As if fans really need another reason to get psyched about the upcoming animated Star Wars: Clone Wars film, Toys R Us is having an in-store midnight sales event featuring Clone Wars products and also giving away four five-feet tall Clone Wars action figures.

Doors to select stores will open at 12:01 a.m., July 26, 2007 (that’s late Friday or really early Saturday, depending on how you look at it). On shelves will be various Star Wars related items including action figures, building sets, models and, of course, video games.

In case you are not in one of those select areas and want to order that Gentle Giant Studios 5 in. Boba Fett bust or a copy of Star Wars: Force Unleashed, shipping for online orders will be free as it is (according to the free shipping details) “confirmed by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on July 26, 2008.” A few items are also marked, “Buy 1, Get 1 Half Off All Sony PSP, PS3 & PS2 Video Games,” but it excludes preorders and, of course, the half-pricer must be of equal or lesser value of the one you are paying full price for. You can only use that discount once per order.

The products range from classic Star Wars to Clone Wars items including a couple non-Star Wars LucasArts games (Lego: Indiana Jones and Thrillville). Most of the items looks to be priced a little lower than normal retail, although games seem to be about the same as usual. Even so, you never know what kind of weird Star Wars-themed freebie they might be handing out. If you are a collector, the reason to go would be to snatch up any particularly cool, limited quantity Clone Wars toy that won’t be available until the event.

I kinda doubt there will be a line at doors at midnight for this one but, hey, you never know.

To help promote the event, Toys R Us is also giving away four life-size (as in five feet tall) action figures. Depending on the week, you could win a large-scale Anakin, Captain Rex, Obi-Wan or Ahsoka figure. You can enter once per day via the “Galactic Star Wars Sweepstakes” web site.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated feature will be in theaters August 15, 2008, and then, Fall 2008, shown as 30-minute mini movies on Cartoon network and TNT. According to the Toys R Us site, “The CG-animated sci-fi action-adventure will feature Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka, as well as sinister villains led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous.” Here’s a trailer for you to oogle:
