It’s that time again to play a game based on a popular comic book character. It just so happens the latest movie Punisher: Warzone is coming out soon which makes now the perfect time to start getting excited for The Punisher: No Mercy. The game will be available on the Playstation Network (PSN) Fall 2008 to coincide with the film.
No Mercy is not an adaptation of the new movie at all. It really draws inspiration from its comic book origins with a story that matches.
Developed by Zen Studios, No Mercy will be an arena first-person shooter with an emphasis on fast-paced and online multiplayer action. Zen Studios is making use of the Unreal Engine 3 which has proven its worth with shooters time and time again. We will be able to take control of of 8 characters from the comics including Punisher, Silver Sable, Barracuda, Jigsaw, and Bushwacker. Each character will have his or her own special abilities and weapons that can be customized at the beginning of each level.
Contrary to other games of a similar nature, No Mercy will only allow 3 weapons to be held at once. Those weapons are divided into close quarters, long range, and special weapons. Power ups will be scattered throughout the levels to give your weapons that little extra kick.
Zen Studios is hoping No Mercy will take up less than 1GB of hard drive space when it’s released complete with four arenas, gameplay at 30 FPS (frames per second), fully voiced comic strip style narratives and Trophy support.
