The 80 GB PS3 hits stores

The 80 GB PS3

The 80 GB PS3 has finally made its way to store shelves. Aimed at providing gamers with more storage space for downloadable content, the 80 GB version received a lot of attention at E3 2007. It carries a price tag of $599 and comes bundled with a copy of Motorstorm as an added incentive.

The 80 GB console version is still not available in the inventory of the notable online retailers. The retailers are confident of an unabated supply of the new version of the console becoming available between August 13 and 18, 2007.

Meanwhile, Sony claims that the 60 GB version of the console, which is ready to be phased out, is selling well at its lowered price tag of $499. It is said to have registered a 113%  jump in sales since the price drop. The 60 GB console would be phased out by Fall 2007, if current sales figures are anything to go by. The Japanese electronic behemoth could be banking on the 80 GB version to turn-around its dwindling fortunes and it shouldn’t take long to determine whether the 80 GB PS3 is able to woo the gamers or not.
