Tekken 5 players will finally be able to take their game online later this year with a $9.99 update allowing full online play on the PS3 network. According to the press release, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online will include Opti Match, Quick Match, Custom Match and Friend Match. Also on the list of updates is a lobby mode for viewing other players’ matches, voice chat and two new single-player modes: “Practice mode, where players can hone their fighting skills before battling online, and Survival mode, where players must use their superior Tekken skills to defeat as many opponents as possible, one after the other, in a fight to the finish.”

Finishing the package is an online news ticker that will post the weekly, monthly and overall rank leaders.

The update will be available on the Playstation Store late 2007 and the base game will retail for $19.99. This is a huge step up for a series that has been begging for a comprehensive online entry.
