team fortress 2One of the best online multiplayer games of 2007 is going to get a whole lot better with Valve’s recent updates to Team Fortress 2 for the Xbox 360.

Five months after its release, Valve is releasing a free downloadable update to Team Fortress 2, fixing a number of the game’s most pressing issues, such as known exploits, menu issues and the frequent bandwidth issues that cause players to suddenly drop without cause.

Released as part of the Orange Box (which featured GDC’s winner for game of the year for 2007, Portal), Team Fortress had been in the making for nearly ten years. When gamers finally got their hands on the 1960s cartoon/spy-themed multiplayer shooter, players were treated to one of the most addictive and enjoyable titles of 2007. Unfortunately, Team Fortress 2 suffered from a number of critical bugs that player quickly exploited to their advantage.

Valve Software representative posted the full detail about the new updates on Xbox.Forum. The following is the full list of improvements that have been made to Team Fortress 2:

  • Fixed a medic invulnerability exploit.
  • Fixed grenades going through players or buildings.
  • Fixed exploit with rockets causing damage through thin walls.
  • Fixed exploit allowing snipers to fire faster than intended.
  • Fixed exploit allowing players to teleport with the intelligence.
  • Fixed exploit attaching sappers to buildings through walls.
  • Fixed spy backstab exploit.
  • Fixed spy being able to attack without dropping his disguise.
  • Medics no longer heal enemy spies when they’re not disguised.
  • Tweaked auto-balance calculations.
  • When an engineer dies in sudden death, his buildings explode.
  • Fixed stats sometimes not reporting correctly.
  • Added a dialog to indicate when the host shuts down the server.
  • Added rumble to TF weapons.
  • Fixed ping column sometimes getting hidden in some resolutions.
  • Added 10 and 14 player game sizes.
  • Prevent hosts selecting game sizes above their bandwidth limits.
  • Improved handling of large network packets to eliminate bandwidth spikes.
  • Reduced respawn times for smaller games.
