Swag of the Day: Soulcalibur IV Xbox 360 faceplates

by PJ Hruschak on Jul 29, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Packed with my press copy of the game, they nicely included a pair of Soulcalibur IV-themed Xbox 360 faceplates. A themed faceplate was offered as an incentive (aka premium) for gamers who pre-ordered Soulcalibur IV from certain retailers.

Since the game was released today (July 29, 2008), these faceplates are already popping up on eBay and Craigslist (not mine, though).

The first is a green faceplate featuring the little green guru himself, Yoda, who is a playable character it the Xbox 360 version of the game (Darth Vader’s in the PS3 version of the game). There are two images of Yoda, one with him wielding a lightsaber across the power button and another, larger image that takes up more of the plate but is a but obscured by the disc slot and forehead cropping.

The second is more blue with crystal emanating from the power button like an explosion and the faded face of a character at the far let (or the top, depending on your system’s orientation).

Both are intended to be viewed with the Xbox 360 standing on end, power button side down. I prefer to keep my consoles lying flat to minimize wear on the lasers. Of course that mean no matter which faceplate I use, it’ll be sideways. The back of the plates indicate they were made by Hori.

So, which faceplate should I use - Yoda or crystally blue? Here’s a bigger version for you to oogle:
