Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (phew) finally finished, plans for November release

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

According to a forum post on the Capcom Unity boards by Christian Svensson (AKA “Sven”), the company’s VP of strategic planning & business development, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has now finished development, testing and is on its way to Sony and Microsoft for approval.

He also mentions that the target release is this November (2008), though trying his best not to crush our spirits, goes on to say:

“November is indeed the target month. It’s a good month for giving “thanks” for all things Street Fighter. ;) It’s a month where hopefully the last of the big retail releases finish up and a clean window for digital begins again.

It is possible for us to bounce the submission on one and not the other which would cause the release to potentially not be simultaneous and still be released in November [2008] on one of the two.”

Which basically means that it’s very possible that the game may launch on one system before it does another. So maybe the Xbox Live version will hit before the PSN version or vice versa. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix promises to bring a classic fighting game back to life (not that it was dead) with high definition graphics unlike Super Street Fighter II that is currently on XBLA. Just look at that screenshot up there for a taste of what’s to come.

Ever since being announced, fans have been clamoring to get their hands on this game, even purchasing Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 to participate in an eight-week beta trial that was an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Of course, with every series as iconic as Street Fighter, there were the fans who have complained about the art style of the game, which is being handled by UDON Entertainment. But now it seems fans on both sides of the fence will be able to throw down soon in new-old game style.
