The Gaming Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records will hit book stores on March 11, 2008, stuffed with some interesting video game records and facts. But it might not feature the feat achieved by Nintendo’s first-party title Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which has become the fastest selling Wii title to sell 1 million units.
Nintendo can thank the Japanese gamers who have literally pounced on the game ever since it released there on January 31, 2008. According to Enterbrain, publisher of the games magazine Famitsu, Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold 1.08 million copies in just 11 days after its release in Japan. The game not only reached the 1 million sales mark in record time but that too beat the previous record by a long way.
The honors previously belonged to the Wii Fit and Wii Sports games, both of which registered a sale of 1 million copies in 11 weeks. This should only make North American Wii gamers more impatient as the game will (we hope) release on March 9, 2008.
