Street Fighter IV iPhone iPod Touch

Street Fighter IV fans can get their portable fix starting today. Capcom’s just announced that the iPhone and iPod Touch adaptations are available on the iTunes store and if you look right there - yup! There’s the listing!

The iPhone/iPod Touch adaptation is a scaled down version of the original PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game. It features only eight characters (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, M. Bison, Blanka, Guile, Dhalsim and Able) and seven areas, but does offer focus attacks, special moves, super combos, ultra moves and unique attacks that players of the original game have come to expect. It also has a training mode, called the Dojo, and Bluetooth multiplayer in Versus.

However, the portable Street Fighter has come under fire for it’s rather unorthodox control scheme. It uses a Visual Pad system, where the D-pad and four action buttons all appear on the screen - the same screen on which your characters are fighting - and this control scheme can tend to obscure the on-screen action. (It also looks like it could give you wicked bad hand cramps.)

If you decide to pick up Street Fighter IV, make sure you have $9.99 handy. It’s a 201mb game and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or better to play. Also, it’s rated 12+ for violence. But, if you can afford an iPhone or iPod Touch, you’re probably older than 12. If you do decide to get it, let us know what you think of the controls in the comments!
