STOP! Don’t open those Call of Duty 5 beta e-mails

by Jeremy Hill on Jan 12, 2009 at 07:33 PM

Fake CoD4First and foremost there is no Call of Duty 5 beta so the first thing you should do if you happen to get this email is to delete it.

Infinity Ward’s Twitter account warns everyone of fake beta invites that have been circulating for the last couple days. The sender has an email address as COD5BETA@infinityward.com but we assure you Infinity Ward has nothing to do with it. The email is an edited version of the email that was sent out for the CoD 4 beta with all references to CoD 4 being replaced by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

This is probably an attempt to get personal information from over anxious gamers that can’t wait to play the sequel to one of the biggest multiplayer titles ever. Infinity Ward’s community manager Robert Bowling ensures us that when the real beta is ready it will be a well known event throughout the internet.

So hold your horses for a bit longer and go back to “flamethrowering” people in the face in CoD: World at War.
