Are you a sheep or are you a wolf? That’s the question in Secondhand Lands, and if you join the open beta for Callipygian Games and Pixel Mine’s latest, free-to-play MMORPG, you can answer that question. Secondhand Lands is a humorous, fairytale themed MMO, where players play as catgirls, scrappers, sheep or wolves.
When you begin playing, you have to decide whose side you’re on - Little Bo Peep or Red Riding Hood. Once you do, you can start adventuring through the world, trying to subdue various iconic creature enemies like the Billy Goats Gruff. Another selling point is that there are over 120 quests already available.
As for the whole cable stealing - you actually can do that in the game. According to the press release, there’s a quest where some gnomes want cable TV, can’t afford it, and call upon the player to get it for them. ou can also explore the forest of badly animated creatures to get footage for “Bears Gone Wild” in another quest. Honestly? It sounds awesome to me. I mean, the graphics look a bit rudimentary, but the gameplay and writing sound very clever.
If you want to get involved in the open beta for this free-to-play, fairytale MMO, there are a few requirements. You first have to make a Pixel Mine account. After that you can go and get the installer, which will let you actually play Secondhand Lands. If you have a Mac, then don’t bother with these steps. You need a PC with Windows 2000 or better to play.
