StarCraft II is still a fall 2009 release

by Danielle Riendeau on Jun 19, 2009 at 10:05 AM

StarCraft II
StarCraft is almost religion (well, especially in Korea), so the long awaited sequel has just about everyone weak in the knees. Despite the fact that we really haven’t heard all that much from Blizzard (which we all know is the developer behind the series, along with those little games like World of WarCraft and Diablo), the game is still slated for a fall 2009 release.

However, 1Up is reporting that the team is adamant that they won’t put out an incomplete product, so if it slips past the season, then it slips. According to the post, Lead designer Chris Sigaty simply stated “We’re not going to ship the game if it’s not ready”. Simple, straightforward, and frankly, not a bad thing.

If you’re waiting with bated breath, know that relief is on the way. I’m talking, of course, about the beta. In order to sign up, mosey on over to The Official site, and get familiar with the specifics.

From the site:

In order to sign up for the StarCraft II beta, you first need to register a Battle.net account. You can opt in to the beta for StarCraft II, as well as betas for future Blizzard Entertainment games, through our new beta opt-in process. To get started, simply click “Beta Profile Settings” in Battle.net Account Management.

To be considered, you must create a beta profile containing your system specifications (see below) and indicate which Blizzard Entertainment games you’re interested in beta testing—be sure to check the box for the StarCraft universe. Once you’ve successfully uploaded a beta profile, the associated Battle.net account is added to a pool of potential beta testers.

If all goes well, we’ll all be first-class StarCrack addicts before the year is out. Oh, to be a gamer…
