Unsung Heroes was available for download July 8, 2008, and if playable on the iPod nano with video, the iPod classic and fifth generation iPod in both English and Japanese for $4.99.
The game takes place in Melodica, a land of music and freedom where the people sing, dance and play - until the Mechanoids arrived. Mechanoids are beings who sold their souls for greed, power and bodies of steel making them as cold and as emotionless as the machines encasing their bodies, destroying all that don’t embrace their way of life.
In the game, players control a character named Ziggy, a song summoner with the ability to turn sound into lethal weapons and summon warriors born of music. Ziggy must journey to not only rescue his brother Zero from the Mechanical Militia but save Melodica as well in this new portable role playing expereince. An experience Square-Enix said in a press release that gamers would normally experience on home and handheld consoles.
Players will be able to transform their iPods into their very own handheld gaming system by creating soldiers called “Tune Troopers” to battle the Mechanoids and enhance their abilities determined by the songs used to create them by using the iPod click wheel to play the game.
