So what do you do if you can’t beat ‘em? Hire ‘em.
It seems that’s exactly what Square Enix plans to do according to Gamasutra. The developer posted a listing for programmers, product managers and pretty much every position you can think of for a planned studio in El Segundo, CA. The studio will be working on an “action-oriented game based for an original IP [intellectual property].” Further details reveal that the programmers the company is looking for are those with Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii experience.
As Joystiq points out, this is not the first venture for what was formally Squaresoft. The company headed out a studio in Hawaii that only produced one game, Parasite Eve. Gamasutra also points out that Square Enix already have an office in El Segundo, to handle localizations and marketing.
Should you be interested in applying for the position, you can check out the listing.
