The iPhone, with its popularity and handy touch screen, is catching the eye of quite a few game developers. The latest is Digital Jokers Mobile, a Spanish company which focuses on mobile games. Digital Jokers has recently announced that it is working with Mayhem Studio to port Call of Cthulhu to the iPhone. The company has announced that the demo of The Call of Cthulhu: Darkness Within Book 1 will be released sometime in September, 2008.
Call of Cthulhu is a point-and-click style adventure game. Players are cast as an archeology student sent to Cairo, Egypt, to find a missing professor in some newly discovered ruins. Chaos and mysterious situations ensue.
The official press release doesn’t state if the game will be a worldwide release. The original mobile version of Call of Cthulhu was originally released in Spain, but was planned for a worldwide release, so perhaps the iPhone version receive a worldwide release. If it doesn’t happen to make it to the US iTunes store, then Lovecraft fans will have to settle for a PC Cthulhu game.
