Space plundering starts as Pirate Galaxy enters closed beta

by Jenni Lada on Feb 5, 2009 at 07:29 PM

Pirate GalaxyPirate Galaxy is certainly coming along well. In fact, the closed beta of Gamigo AG’s free-to-play, browser-based, space exploration MMORPG has just begun. That means that, if you want the opportunity to play, all you have to do is register and hope you’re one of the first 5,000 people to do so. If you’re not one of the first 5,000, you’ll have to wait till the open beta.

As you can guess from the title, Pirate Galaxy lets players be Space Pirates. You journey throughout the universe, flying around planets, stopping at space stations, going through the storyline,  completing automatically generated quests, facing off against other Space Pirates and also fighting against the alien MANTIS threat. The screenshots are really pretty impressive.

Browser-based games are always fun, especially because they’re so flexible. Gamigo AG takes this a step further, by giving players the option to play the game directly from the site, or by getting a client program. So if you really enjoy the game, you can just start the client on your computer, and then use the website to play when you’re at other locations.

The webpage also has this catchy techno/instrumental music going on in the background. It’s a nice track. I hope the in-game music sounds that good.
