Sony’s Home beta temporarily shuts down for maintenance

by Kris Rosado on Dec 4, 2008 at 05:34 PM

Home betaAre you in the super-secret exclusive Home closed beta club? If so, you won’t have access to your super-secret Home-world until Thursday afternoon as Sony will be shutting down the servers for maintenance between 2:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. EST.

The good news is that “maintenance” will be adding items to Home’s virtual mall outlets. The better news is that everyone already in the Home closed beta will get these items free of charge until Home moves into open beta sometime in the future. After Home goes open beta, the free items will become pay-to-own, though no prices were divulged. Further good news is that any items players obtain for free in the closed beta will be carried over into the open beta.

Sony is obviously moving into the final stages before the launch of Home’s long delayed open beta, though its hard to say if we will see the beta this year or the beginning of next year. Sony has placed strict guidelines that all participants must remain quiet about their activity in the closed beta, so there isn’t a whole lot of info about what’s been seen. Sorry folks but I can’t resist what I am about to write:

The first rule of Home beta is, you do not talk about Home beta.

The second rule of Home beta is, you do not talk about Home beta.

I know, I feel dirty too.
