Once the promised Blu-Ray-to-memory-card feature kicks in for the PS3 and PSP, the space on your memory card will dwindle pretty fast. Each movie will take up about 1 GB which would fill up a pricey 4 GB card with a simply movie trilogy, leaving a little room for game saves, music and photos.
The 16 GB memory card (14.9 GB usable) will be available in march 2008 for approximately $300 (ouch!). The retail price of the 4 GB model was $240 when it was released in March 2006, so the price per GB is dropping.
This will be the largest capacity card in the Memory Stick Pro Duo series. The card’s speed has gotten a Mark 2 boost but what it really needs is a price adjustment. The good news is that it means the price of the 2 and 4 GB models will likely drop a little.
You can use the card in more devices than the PSP including digital cameras, but it’s primarily only used in Sony products. Sony announced the 16 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo at CES 2008.
