Sony Home Update: Zombies spotted, Fat Princess wants cake
This week on PlayStation Home there are several new events taking place that will continue to entertain the PS Home community and one very promising upgrade to one of PS Home’s hangouts.
New and Upcoming Spaces
Burn Zombie Burn
First, don’t panic. Zombies have been spotted in a new world on the map called Burn Zombie Burn, a cartoon-like grave yard with zombies roaming about, two open tombs and one mysterious one that you can only enter after completing the maze game found in the first tomb all the way to the left. The maze game is crawling with zombies, much like the Ward of Despair on the Siren map you have only a few minutes to make through the maze to the tomb at the end safely without being touched by the zombies roaming randomly through the maze.
If you are captured you are thrown out of the game to start over but if you manage to escape the zombies unharmed enter the mystery tomb and dance to the beat of Thriller and other spooky songs to earn a free Double Six t-shirt. If you want a different shirt there’s a zombie in the graveyard selling other styles of Double Six t-shirts for $1.99 each. You can only find Double Six t-shirts at the graveyard at the moment. If the area is too dark for your liking there are a few gravestones with torches you can light by approaching them to light your path and oh, don’t worry about the zombie roaming this area. He’s harmless.
New and improved 10-screen Theater
Next we look at the new and improved movie theater. Prior to the upgrade players were often bored waiting for the trailer or movie preview they wanted to see to cycle through the video feed on one single screen. Now in the newly improved theater, players can choose the video they want to see by entering one of 10 auditoriums, each showing a different video or hang out in the spacious lobby with one screen showing a preview of the latest film out in theaters.
But check the theaters often, because now depending on the feature being played in one of the ten rooms, players can unlock an exclusive item for simply watching the video. The theater will also feature exclusive sneak peeks, music videos and even full-length television shows in the near future. Not sure what’s showing inside? There are posters next to the doors that show what you can expect to watch inside the theater room.
Fat Princess wants Cake
Next space to open, is a Fat Princess event space where players can check out videos about the new game now available at the PlayStation Store and go on a virtual quest to feed the princess for an exclusive Home item - a throne for your living space.
This event space is only open for a very short time so if you want a cute little throne for your personal space enter this space and visit the gallery to see the princess. (Tip: Before visiting the princess look at all the item displays from the game and read the notes. These are clues to the questions you have to answer to unlock a piece of cake.) Once you collect all eight pieces, feed it to the princess and watch her grow wider to get your throne. Here’s what you can expect when you enter this space:
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift game space
No exact dates are available but Sony has announced a new space for fans of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is on its way and offers images of the new space for fans to enjoy while they are in the process of working on this space. But from what I’ve read, those who have the game will be able to launch straight into their game from this area. Here’s a few screen shots of the upcoming space:
At the Shopping Mall
There really isn’t anything new to report at the mall except for a free t-shirt at Threads located on the first floor of the mall.
Threads
Free Katamari Forever Ichigo T-shirt for both male and female avatars available:
- Green shirt for males featuring a green Katamari Forever character riding on the left shoulder
- Pink shirt for females featuring a pink Katamari Forever character riding on the left shoulder

What if Fat Princess were a zombie? Then we’d all be in serious trouble.
on August 3, 2009 at 10:35 AM - LINKTrue. But if you have a Zombie plan like I do, I would keep her around and use her as decoy to make my escape. I believe if you kept her full of cake the whole time she would keep the zombies occupied for at least a month or two. More than enough time to escape the city.
on August 4, 2009 at 10:30 AM - LINKVery true. Of course, has anyone studied the digestive nature of zombies? Maybe they just eat until they explode since they cannot actually digest anything any more.
on August 4, 2009 at 03:03 PM - LINKVery true. But ponder this. If its already dead ... how do you kill it? And ... do zombies feel pain at all?
on August 5, 2009 at 11:49 AM - LINKIt’s likely that the brain has at least some rudimentary operation, to keep the body moving an process thoughts of “me hungry.” I’m guessing if they do feel pain, it’s pretty non-existant since they seem to disregard their own limitations to get to human meat, which is why they often seem really strong. (Otherwise, it’d be a very basic sensation of pain, so it’d be rather debilitating, so even touching them would stop them, and that just doesn’t happen).
on August 5, 2009 at 01:09 PM - LINKInteresting. But can you truly kill something that is already dead or just stop them? And how does the zombification process really work? If the human populace was totally annihilated would zombies resort to cannibalization? Or switch to vegan meals instead? Hmmmm.
