Last week Sony delayed the release of the PS3 motion controller until Fall 2010 so that it can take advantage of more varied games. At that time Sony did not refer to the controller by name but now the PS3 Arc website has appeared.
The PS3 Arc was rumored to be the official name of the motion controller but was not confirmed or denied by Sony. PS3 Arc’s website carries a tagline of “Arc You Ready?” Interestingly enough this seems to be a throwback to the original PlayStation slogan that was, “You Are Not Ready.”
The website also still uses the old PS3 Spider-Man font. After firmware update 3.0 Sony changed the PS3 logo to a different font that is seen on the PS3 Slim as well as on the XMB boot up screen.
Lastly the website states that the PS3 Arc will arrive with the Kownage expansion pack. We don’t know what Kownage is but it has peeked our curiosity.
Keep in mind this website may not be real. Everything is considered to be a rumor until Sony says otherwise.
Update: A search on BetterWhois show that the website playstationarc.com was registered by Sony Computer Entertainment on October 16, 2009. The site PS3 Arc was registered by UnderHost Networks Ltd, a Canadian based company.
Signs pointing to PS3 Arc being a hoax just got a lot clearer.
