One of the biggest surprises of last year was EA’s Skate, which reinvigorated the skateboarding genre after years of stagnation. Nintendo DS and Wii owners will finally get to see what all the fuss was about. Today (May 12, 2008), EA announced Skate It, a spin-off designed specifically for Nintendo’s unique hand-held and console.
The Wii version will allow users to use the remote as a skateboard, mimicking moves and tricks with the motion controls, while the players on the DS will control the action via the touch-screen. The innovative FlickIt control system will make it’s return to the new versions of the game. Skate It will also support the upcoming Wii Fit balance board, though how it will be used has yet to be revealed.
The original Skate brought the extreme sports genre back to its roots, focusing on realism and a unique, close-to-the-ground camera system. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners will also get a dose of Skate action, as EA also announced that the direct sequel, Skate 2, is currently in development. The Nintendo versions will be released sometime in 2008.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2’s many imperfections, like laws you might unintentionally break, a flawed recruiting system, recycled characters and new MP system have made me realize I want nothing to do with the game.
