That was quick. EA has already announced the first Sims 3 expansion pack. Of course, we all knew this announcement was coming. Honestly, I think it’s a bit tardy. After all, the game came out June 2, 2009. The expansion announcement should have come July 3, not August 3, 2009. Somebody’s slipping.

Anyways, the first Sims 3 expansion will be called The Sims 3 World Adventures, and it’ll be released November 16, 2009. A price hasn’t been announced yet. What has been announced that it will be a PC/MAC release, come with 1,000 SimPoints and that the online Sims Store will be carry new, expansion pack-required items when it’s released.

The Sims 3 World Adventures is a bit like the The Sims 2: Bon Voyage or The Sims Vacation. The press release specifically mentions that sims will be able to visit locations in China, Egypt and France. There will also be new items, skills, opportunities, personality options clothing and styles.

I’m a bit surprised that the “vacation” expansion would be the first for The Sims 3. Bon Voyage was the sixth Sims 2 expansion, and Vacation was the fourth Sims expansion. I was hoping a Pets, Apartment Life, Seasons or University style upgrade for The Sims 3 would be released first.
