Surrounded and outnumbered, your forces face destruction from all directions. Welcome to a World in Conflict. Brought to you by Sierra Entertainment and developer Massive Entertainment, this action-strategy game will be battling its way to your computer screen on September 18, 2007.
Set in an alternate timeline, World in Conflict places you on the frontlines of a 1988 conflict where the Cold War heats up instead of freezing out. The Soviets, fearing an internal collapse, make an effort to expand their influence by invading Eastern Europe. NATO hurries to respond only to be distracted by a second attack - this one on American soil. Do battle in the familiar streets of American’s cities in an effort to repel Soviet invaders. Armed with full 360 degree control of the camera, totally destructible environments and a storyline penned by Larry Bond, World in Conflict promises to light up your computer screen.
Following the recent trend, WiC will be available in a standard meat and potatoes edition and a Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition will be packaged with several goodies including an authentic piece of the Berlin Wall, a bonus DVD from The History Channel, behind the scenes videos and special packaging.
While any good game strives to provide a gripping single player campaign, any good company knows that multi-player support is where legacies are made. Sierra is no different. World in Conflict features Drop-in Multiplayer, so you can call in reinforcements or give support to online friends in need and comes complete with battlefield roles, where you can specialize in Air, Armor, Infantry or Support. Not to be out-done by other mutliplayer games, Sierra is hosting a World in Conflict tournament with a cash prize of $20,000. This is to help gamers prepare for the World Tour, where the winners can wage war for $300,000.
Think you can wage war with the best? Sierra wants you to be at your best, so they’re opening a Beta Test Round starting July 11, 2007. Go here to register for the beta.
This beta is designed to allow both new and established teams to practice, practice, practice before the Summer CPL Championships. This championship will take place on Thursday, August 30, 2007, till Sunday, September 2, 2007, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. Have a new team and wish to get in on the action?
