With Activision’s executives now having the final say in what Sierra can and cannot develop, they will have to show their new parent company that their ongoing projects are justified, or so close sources have told Variety‘s gaming blog, The Cut Scene, back on Tuesday (March 18, 2008).
The blog speculates that the titles Sierra had planned for this year including The Bourne Conspiracy, Brutal Legend, Ghostbusters and Prototype are pretty safe from Activision’s chopping block. Anything in 2009 or later though is in trouble, especially if it has a license or motif that conflicts which conflicts with one of Activision’s licenses or properties.
Sierra may be barred from making more Bourne games now that Activision has the license to make games based off of 007. An official Sierra-sanctioned FEAR sequel may also be jeopardized by developer Monolith’s unofficial follow-up Project Origin, which was part of a deal with Activision.
