Shock and awe! Harry Potter movie 6 inspires Harry Potter 6 video games

In shocking news that will clearly revolutionize the way we look at movie inspired video games, EA has announced that yes, there will be a Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince game released to coincide with the November 21, 2008 film. Harry’s trials and tribulations are coming to a close, and this game will chronicle every second of the suspense-filled adventure.

Okay, so that’s out of the way. Basically, like all the other Harry Potter games, Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince will be based on the adventures of the book. So really this one is all about Harry, Ron and Hermoine surviving another year of school and trying to learn who the Half Blooded Prince is, all while Voldemort’s army is growing more active. It also is going to be everywhere. EA is releasing it for the DS, PC (Mac and Windows), PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox360. It will also be available for some cell phones as well. Oh, and if all goes well with its new time machine technology, EA will also be releasing the game on the GameCube, Game Gear, GBA, NES, Sega Genesis, SNES and PS1. I’m kidding of course - EA’s saving that move for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows game.

I know I’m being a bit cynical, but I really am a Harry Potter fan. The Wii version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix wasn’t half bad. I actually enjoyed playing that game. Silly, I know, but I did. Of course that was my favorite book in the series, so I’m probably more likely to be lenient on media inspired by that installment.

I’m not really excited for the Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince movie though. I just can’t figure it out. I attended midnight showings of all the other movies, and yet for this I have this overwhelming feeling of “meh.” Of course I didn’t really care for book six, so maybe that’s behind all of this. I’m sure that the seventh movie will definitely worth getting excited over though.
