Shadow, Relm and Interceptor cross stitch
Today’s cross stitch is designed to warm every Final Fantasy-loving heart. It is a FFVI family portrait, featuring Shadow, Relm and their dog Interceptor. Hey! Don’t go crying spoilers at me. The game’s 14 years old - the spoiler-cut statute has expired.
This cross stitch was surprisingly simple to make. I headed to my favorite sprite site, Sprite Database (they should start paying me for this), snagged some SNES FFVI sprites and then started sewing. In retrospect, I’m a bit disappointed that I couldn’t find a third shade of gray or black for Shadow’s costume, but I’m satisfied. It took me two hours to sew this, and there are 13 different colors in it. Also, to give people an idea of how I get started, I took a picture of the piece after I completed the black outline x’s.
The black outline always takes the longest. That part alone probably took me about 45 minutes. Everything else is created on cruise control after that. If you liked seeing the “in-progress” picture, let me know in the comments and I’ll include pictures like it with cross stitches.
So next week I’m thinking Jump Ultimate Stars Bleach sprites. I’d like to do Renji and Rukia, but I’d have to edit the Rukia sprite first. (She’s like a midget in the show/manga, so it’d make no sense if her sprite was as tall as Renji.)
As always, the other finished cross stitches appearing on Gamertell include:
- Smoochum, Elekid and Magby
- Tonberry
- Jump Ultimate Stars Kakashi
- A Samba Pig from The World Ends with You
- Nils and Ninian from Fire Emblem
- Mudkip
- Ice Climbers
- Hamtaro from Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite
- Etna from Disgaea
- Prinny from Disgaea
- Peter Pepper, Mr. Egg and Mr. Hot Dog from Burgertime
- Link and Navi
- Nemo and a frog from Little Nemo: The Dream Master
- Angel Kirby from Kirby Squeak Squad

Aww~ Heart-warming indeed. :)
Ah, so you start with the black outline. :o
After starting with your Pig Samba stitch and seeing a whole bunch of other video game-pixelated cross stitches, I’m inspired to do my own. xD

I’m glad that these got you interested in cross stitching as well. I kinda have some minor allergies (my eyes get runny and itchy), so I’m taking a break from cross stitching. I should start up again by the end of August. :D I’m hoping to possibly do a Ichigo & Orihime piece, or a Renji & Rukia one.
