The Conduit, High Voltage Software’s (HVS) science fiction first-person shooter for the Wii, has been garnering a great deal attention from the “hardcore” gaming community since its unveiling earlier this year (April 2008), but it has taken until now (October 29, 2008) for its publisher to be confirmed.
After receiving offers from a large number of publishers, HVS finally settled on Sega to handle publishing duties for its premier Wii release. HVS CEO and founder Kerry Ganofsky suggests in the announcement press release that Sega shares his company’s vision for The Conduit.
The game takes place in a future version of Washington, D.C. following a vicious invasion by aliens known as “The Drudge”. Players fill the shoes of Mr. Ford, a Secret Service agent instructed by an organisation referred to as the Trust to fend off the incursion using a selection of advanced weaponry and equipment.
In addition to support for the Wii MotionPlus accessory, The Conduit boasts a highly customisable control scheme that can be tailored to each and every individual player’s needs — everything from look and turn sensitivity to the dead zone can be fully customised with ease.
The game is powered by HVS’ new Quantum 3 engine, ensuring — if currently avaliable media is anything to go by — that it will be one of the more attractive Wii games on the market when it launches during the first quarter of 2009.
