iPhone and iPod touch owners who love to doodle in their spare time will adore the Etch A Sketch for the iPhone. The new Apple App Store, which opened today (July 10, 2008), has an official Etch A Sketch application from Freeze Tag. It is a 2.4 MB download, costs only $4.99 and is recommended for users ages four and up. It only works with the iPhone (with 2.0 software) and iPod touch.
The reason it only works on touch screen iPods is because there are actually two knobs on the screen. Users can either doodle with their fingers, or use the two knobs to create works of art. You can do the classic black and grey art, or go with multiple colors, imported backgrounds and write on the drawing. The program also allows you to save your art and send it to friends. The best part - you shake your iPhone or iPod touch to erase the art when you’re done.
It looks like it could be a lot of phone. I know that, if I had an iPhone, I’d want some sort of drawing tool on there. I especially like how Freeze Tag slightly tweaked it so you can use Etch A Sketch as a regular drawing program as well.
