Scholastic Media has developed two children’s games for the Nintendo DS platform, I Spy: Fun House and Animal Genius, both with a suggested retail price of $29.99. I Spy is currently available and Animal Genus is scheduled to be released September 2007. Both games are rated “E” for everyone by the ESRB and distributed by Activision
I Spy is based on Scholastic Media’s popular I Spy games known for brain-teasing riddles. The Nintendo DS version will be played exclusively using the DS stylus and touch screen. Players will find themselves trapped in a carnival fun house where they must collect nine inventory items to unlock an exit or move to the next level. The game consists of six I Spy riddle screens, 18 riddles and three face-paced games that will challenge the player’s mind as they make their way through every twist and optical illusions ready to surprise the player at every corner. As the player moves around the room, he/she will be able to recognize different objects found in a typical fun house that lead to riddles that must be completed to exit the room.
The second game, Animal Genius, will appeal to those passionate about animals. The game will feature photo-realistic imagery of animals in their natural habitats. Knowledge about the individual animals include habitat, behavior and unique qualities are key to this game as players compete in five different games which require a combination of quick thinking and sharp reflexes using the DS stylus. The five minigames include Creature Collector, Scratch ‘N See, Matchomatic, Maze Munch and Animal Expert.
