Another movie-based game the world probably didn’t need has arrived, as Blockdot’s online game Trapped, based on Saw IV, has now hit the internet. For those daring enough to risk possible gore, chills and the other side-effects that come from a movie-inspired game, there is also a contest running. After completing the game, players will receive the option to enter the Saw IV Trapped sweepstakes and win Saw IV director’s cut DVDs, t-shirts and posters. Be still my heart.
Even though you would think Trapped would be a survival horror game, along the lines of a more disturbed Lost in Blue, it is instead a puzzle game. You have to free two men who are trapped in two rooms by moving key utensils to their proper room. If you happen to do this out of order, everyone dies. You’re timed while doing all of this, by the way. If it sound a bit like Perfection to you, you’re not alone.
The Saw IV Trapped contest started January 14, 2008 and will end February 25, 2008. To enter, play the game until the end and then a screen will come up asking if you want to enter. To be eligible for the contest, you must be over 18, live in the US and not be related to anyone from Lions Gate Entertainment, Kewlbox or Blockdot. Each week two winners are randomly picked, with one winning a dvd and t-shirt and the other getting a poster.
I don’t get what people see in Saw IV. I mean The Orphanage had some moments which were more disturbing and scary than any of those found in the Saw series, and it didn’t need gore or gruesome tricks to accomplish that. On the other hand, I now can’t stop wondering how a horror game version of Lost in Blue would be.
