The adventures of Sam & Max are going to break free from the evil computers and escape to local video game stores in fall 2008. Sam & Max Season One, which will contain the first six episodes that originally appeared on GameTap and could only be purchased from Steam or Telltale Games. The episodes will be slightly altered to work with the Wii’s unique controls, and the title will be released throughout North America and Europe.
Since the game progressed in short episodes, it almost feels as though you’re getting more game for your money. Season One contains the game episodes “Culture Shock,” “Situation Comedy,” “The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball,” “Abe Lincoln Must Die,” “Reality 2.0” and “Bright Side of the Moon.” My personal favorite is “Abe Lincoln Must Die,” mainly because I was able to try it for free, but I’ve heard phenomenal things about all of the episodes.
For console and computer games, I always prefer hard copies of games to downloads. The release of Sam & Max Season One provides the opportunity for a hilarious and exceptional game series to get more attention. While there are a great number of PC gamers, they are outnumbered by console gamers, and this move to the Wii could make Sam & Max popular again. I know I’d rather play Season One on a console rather than a PC. I’m sure it won’t be long before Sam & Max Season Two is announced.
