RipTen heard through the grapevine (the grapevine in this case being a Spanish PlayStation community site PSNow), that Street Fighter-themed costumes are coming to everyone’s favorite make-it-yourself title, Little Big Planet.

The only information available is the picture you see at the head of this post showing Sackboy (and girl) Guile, Ryu, Chun-li, and Zangeif, with a slightly different one (but showing the same characters) on RipTen. No mentions of pricing or release date which suggests this is either one clever Photoshop project or someone was browsing in areas where they weren’t supposed to be.

The only semi-official statement has come indirectly from a note on PSNow that indicates Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) requested the site take down the images. Again, that doesn’t suggest anything but only heightens our curiosity.

It’s not beyond feasibility that Street Fighter-themed characters would come to Little Big Planet, seeing as how Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was just released and Street Fighter 4 is on its way, both of which are games Capcom is extremely proud of and would want to celebrate with lots of fanfare. But until someone at Capcom or Sony speaks up, the legitimacy of the photos are still in question, no matter how real they look and they look really real.

At least we can hope.
