In what could be another nail in the PC coffin, German developer Cyrtek, the makers of 2007’s smash hit Crysis, looks like it may be jumping the PC ship and swimming towards console shores.

Crytek studio director and company founder Cevat Yerli told PC Play about the troubles with PC gaming, namely the acts of piracy which have jeopardized the entire PC market (and helped the console market).

“We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin… PC gamers that pirate games, inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us, and I believe we won’t have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.“

Rumors still persist that Crysis, which won a number of gaming awards in 2007, may still be on its way to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 (or even both). But in the interview, Yerli stated simply that a port of Crysis would be next to impossible, saying that the game would have to be largely changed to bring it to either console and that a port to begin with, isn’t really something the company is worried about right now.
