Rumor Confirmed:  Rock Band coming to Wii in 2008

by Madison, Phil on Feb 5, 2008 at 07:55 PM

RockBandCover.jpgThe guys over at GamePro had a little powwow with Electronic Arts’ CEO John Riccitiello last Thursday (February 1st, 2008) and got the skinny on what was going down with EA’s plans for their instant hit game, Rock Band.  It looks like lucky Wii owners can look forward to rocking out sometime in 2008.

Rumors that Rock Band would be coming to the Nintendo Wii have been spreading around like the love for rock ballads spread in the ‘80s.  The rumors started when Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos told GamePro back in April 2007, “We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform,” and commented that “the WiiMote is something that holds enormous promise.” it has been up in the air.

Well, now you can put those rumors to rest.  (At least the ones that confirm or deny the launch of Rock Band on the Wii that is.)  Because no additional details have been unconfirmed regarding exactly when it will ship, whether there will be downloadable content, or how much it will cost can remain in unconfirmed limbo.

Yeah, I know - confirmation of this rumor was just a technicality for most people but there you go anyway.  Stay tuned and we will report more info as it is released.

Been so looking forward to rock band getting ported to the Wii. It will be interesting to see whether they use the wiimote in a “just for the sake of it” manner or in a way thats actually innovative and contributes to the gameplay.

Yeah, that is what I am worried about too.  It’s like playing golf with the Wiimote… its a great idea in theory, but when you have to tap in a put it just isn’t responsive enough.
