Rome: Total War Gold Edition shown off at Macworld 2009

by Jenni Lada on Jan 8, 2009 at 03:06 PM

Rome Total War Gold EditionFeral Interactive is working on a Mac edition of another classic game. This time, it’s Rome: Total War Gold Edition, a strategic simulation from Sega that includes Rome: Total War and the expansion pack Barbarian Invasion. Feral’s displaying the game at Macworld Expo 2009 this year, and will be selling it sometime in 2009 for $29.95.

Its being brought to Macs by the same company behind the Mac version of Black & White 2. The Mac version of Rome: Total War Gold Edition is actually facing a similar delay, just like Black & White. It originally was released for PCs in the US on February 14, 2006. Now, three years later, Feral is releasing the Mac version in March 2009.

Who knows though, it could be more than three years before we see it. While the press release at GamesIndustry.biz says that Rome: Total War Gold Edition is available to preorder at Feral’s online store, I checked the whole site and as of 12:17pm CST on January 8, 2009, there was no preorder listing. Also, Black & White 2 was supposed to be available to purchase as of January 6, 2009. I checked Feral Interactive’s store at 12:20pm CST on January 8, 2009 and tried to order it, only to see it’s still referred to as a preorder item.

If you’re a Mac owner who also happens to own or have access to a PC, there is another, cheaper, faster option. You can pick up the exact same game for $15.99 or less immediately at Amazon.com, depending on whether you want to buy from Amazon or another seller.
