Fans of Sega’s trippy music/shooter title, Rez, can rejoice. Q Entertainment will be releasing a souped-up Rez HD in early 2008 for Xbox Live Arcade. The title has been overhauled graphically and aurally, supporting 5.1 surround sound along with visual enhancements.
The original game was released on the Japanese Dreamcast and North American PS2 and produced by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, which is also handling the HD transformation.
From the press release:
“Rez was developed by SEGA’s United Game Artists (“UGA”) division. Tetsuya Mizuguchi, former president of UGA and current chief creative officer of Q Entertainment, conceptualized and produced the fast-action shooter, which is known to be one of the most unique, offbeat and eccentric games ever released.”
The game looks absolutely gorgeous, and it’s sure to garner a much larger audience this time around, due to the ubiquitous nature of the XBLA. No word yet on achievements or online play (including leaderboards), but it would only make sense.
