RedSpotGames to publish two new Dreamcast games

by Danielle Riendeau on Aug 20, 2007 at 08:16 PM

Sega Dreamcast The little console that almost could is about to have something of a mini renaissance thanks to publisher RedSpotGames and the advent of specially made Dreamcast development kits. The company will be showing off shooter Dalforce, and puzzler Wind and Water Puzzle Battles at the Leipzig game conference. RedSpotGames also released the recent Dreamcast title Last Hope.

Dalforce is a vertical shooter with 11 levels and a 4-player mode. According to Arcade Renaissance, the publishers are promising “a unique scoring system, intense bullet patterns, and huge bosses.” Wind and Water Puzzle Battles is a port of the GP2X action/puzzle title, and will feature secret characters as well as a 4-player mode. Both games are set for release in early 2008.

Both titles sound as if they’d be right at home on XBLA but there’s a certain indie appeal to new games made for supposedly dead systems. The DC never got a fair shake in the past, so it would be quite cool if this little trend continues and the ‘Cast gets second life as an indie breeding ground.
