Sega understands that the PS3 and Xbox 360 owners may be feeling a little left out. After all, ports of popular Sega Genesis and Sega Master System games have been brought to the Game Boy Advance, PSP and PS2. But don’t worry, because in 2009 the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, filled with 40 famous Sega Master System and Sega Genesis titles, will be available.
A complete game list isn’t available yet, but Sega has confirmed quite a few titles that will be included. The company has also announced that the games will all be enhanced so that will be able to be displayed in 720p on HD tvs.
The Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection titles confirmed by Sega’s press release so far are:
So far, Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection doesn’t sound all that thrilling - especially if you already own the Sega Genesis Collection for the PSP or PS2. After all, the PS2 version of Sega Genesis Collection included Altered Beast arcade version, Decap Attack, Ecco the Dolphin, Ecco II: The Tides of Time, Ecco Jr., Future Spy Kid Chameleon, Flicky, Gain Cround, Golden Axe, Golden Axe II, Golden Axe III, Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star III, Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Super Thunder Blade, Tac/Scan, Sword of Vermilion, Vectorman, Vectorman 2, Virtua Fighter 2, Zaxxon and Zektor. That is a seriously impressive, and hard to top, compilation of games. I think there’s a good chance that some of these titles will reappear on Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection.
