PopCap Games donates copies of Bejeweled Twist to Games for Soldiers

by Jenni Lada on Nov 12, 2008 at 03:23 PM

PopCap Bejeweled TwistThanksgiving isn’t until November 27, 2008, but that isn’t stopping PopCap Games from showing its appreciation for the US armed forces now. In a moving gesture, PopCap Games has decided to donate the first 500 retail copies of its latest entry in the Bejeweled series, Bejeweled Twist to Games for Soldiers. The 500 games are being shipped to Gamers for Soldiers on November 13, 2008, and Games for Soldiers will then distribute the copies to men and women stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Games for Soldiers is a small, not-for-profit group started by Jesse Williams. The goal is to try and amass donations of video games, video game consoles, cards and travel games to give the soldiers something to do in their freetime while they are stationed overseas. The charity’s main focus is on video games. Games for Soldiers then sends these items to members of the Army, Airforce, Marines and Navy, primarily in Afghanistan, but also to other regions.

If you’d like your own retail copy of Bejeweled Twist, you’ll have to wait a few days. It won’t be in stores in the US until November 18, 2008. You can download a copy from PopCap Games’ site though, if you don’t want to wait. Bejeweled Twist costs $19.95 through PopCap, and will cost $19.99 in stores.
