With the stresses of Valentine’s Day now a mere memory, Sony’s Playstation 3 is now back to giving gamers the only gifts that it knows how: presents in the form of content updates and bonus wares that will be sure to please any individual who claims himself as a PS3 owner.
This store update also highlights week 2 of the PSN’s “Spring Fever” program. Heading into the store this week are two downloadable games: Noby Noby Boy and Zuma. Both are games that challenge players to exercise their minds and creativity rather than usage of their trigger fingers. Noby Noby Boy will set players back $5 in the Playstation Store, while Zuma will cost $10. A good price, however, Zumahas since been made available in other forms, so it is questionable whether it is worth dropping money on a game that you can get cheaper on cell phone.
LittleBigPlanet, the newest iteration of Street Fighter, Skate 2, High Velocity Bowling, Burnout Paradise, and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm and Mirror’s Edge are all the beneficiaries of additional content this week. While the items in LittleBigPlanet and Street Fighter IV are merely cosmetic, the other games receive benefits in the form of content that will add some meat to their respective experiences. Mirror’s Edge in particular will see a nice Time Trial pack be made available, while Burnout Paradise becomes the beneficiary of many nice cars that will undoubtedly please drivers around Paradise City. Prices of these packs will range from nothing to $10, so spend your money wisely.
Rock Band players will have the chance to purchase songs such as “Black Sunshine” by White Zombie and “Wasted Again” by Turbonegro for $2 each, while Guitar Hero World Tour players will get to download a Wings Track Pack for $5.49.
Demos for Zuma and Afro Samurai are also available, along with the usual batch of videos, themes and Playstation Portable related items. All in all, this new update is a pleasing one, and players should hope that Sony can keep up its spring success.
