This latest update brought with it an additional map pack for the popular first-person shooter titled Powered up Forever! For the cost of $10, players will have the ability to prove that size does indeed matter by attacking, defeating and harvesting enemy Guardians’ energy cores in order to increase their size and weaponry. Of course, other players will attempt this too, making it a frantic fight for survival.
LittleBigPlanet’s appearance in the store saw the debut of additional costumes for Sackboy, including outfits in honor of Street Fighter IV for $2 apiece and a free Santa suit befitting the holiday season.
While these two titles proved to be the highest profile releases to see Playstation Store additions, other titles saw fit to have their proverbial rosters expanded in terms of content. For instance, High Velocity Bowling saw two additional packs fill its roster, one a Big Zero Trick Shot Pack for free, and another Gearhead Ball Pack for the relatively low cost of $1.
Age of Booty also has two new map packs that are available for the low price of nothing, making this an excellent deal for those interested in this game.
Fans of popular music games such as Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band and Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 were gifted with new music this week, as bands such as Nirvana and No Doubt have made their hits available to the former two titles, for the standard price of $1.99 per song and $5.49 for a pack. Karaoke Revolution fans will also have the chance to sing songs such as “How to Save a Life” and “Waiting for Tonight” for the low cost of $1.49 per song.
Mercenaries 2 will also see a free content pack, making it that much easier for players to continue their destructive tendencies.
Couple these items with the usual assortment of videos, themes and trailers available for both the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Portable, along with the unveiling of Home, and this looks like the time for Sony to reassert itself in the console wars.
