Play Pteroglider for free

by Jenni Lada on May 21, 2008 at 01:47 PM

Pteroglider in play
You can now download Codeminion’s space shoot ‘em up game Pteroglider for free. Whether this is good news or not is debatable. The co-owner of Codeminion, Maciej Biedrzycki, is offering the full retail version of the game for download through the Codeminion Casual Game Harmony blog. The game was originally released in April, 2004 and sold a whopping 32 copies worldwide.

Biedrzycki also talks a bit about Pteroglider in the blog entry, discussing why it failed. He states that the DirectX 9 driver requirement, high difficulty level, awkward level design and controls that Biedrzycki even admits take hours to master are just some of the reasons why people didn’t take to the shooter. He also mentions the game’s few good points (it was released on time and looks pretty) and offers instructions for getting started if you download.

Since it is only an 11.2 MB download, I figured I’d give it a shot. I have to say I agree with Biedrzycki. It looks nice, but my brain just isn’t wired to handle that control scheme. It is free, so why not give it a try since the developer took the time to write a hilarious blog entry on it and offer it up.
