Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball gets pirated (probably by Ninjas)

In one of the funniest twists I’ve seen this year, Gamecock Media Group has announced that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball will be delayed due to piracy. Apparently some villainous scoundrels have already started distributing copies of the upcoming Xbox 360 title. Initial reports suggested that pirates were behind the affair, but recent incoming reports suggest that it was all an elaborate set up concocted by ninjas. Representatives from the robot and zombie teams also participating in the game could not be reached for comment. In response to the theft, Blazing Lizard, the group responsible for the game’s development, will be adding in new material. The events and additions have resulted in the release date of Pirates vs. Ninjas being pushed back to late spring 2008.

The Blazing Lizard studio director Christopher Stockman released a statement in the press release saying,

“We see the irony in all this ... Rest assured, we have a crack team of Ninjas on the case and hunting down all pirates. On the positive side it gives us a chance to go back and add in additional content to the game.”

Seriously, the game hasn’t been pirated. Blazing Lizard and Gamecock wanted to add new content, which would delay the game’s release, and decided to blame the delays on pirates. Additional modes are being added and there will also be additional, traditional dodgeball rules which can be used.

I know there’s talk of pirates and ninjas being behind the theft, but I think it was all a joint plot put together by the robots and zombies. You can’t trust a group who can’t keep their limbs attached to their bodies, or one which could suddenly go haywire if their wiring is faulty. The robots were the brains and the zombies did the legwork.
