PhoneSaber upgrades and transforms to Lightsaber Unleashed

by Jenni Lada on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:13 PM

Lightsaber Unleashed PhoneSaberFreebies are awesome, especially when they are inspired by a popular series. TheMacBox has just updated its free lightsaber iPhone/iPod Touch program PhoneSaber and given it a catchy new moniker - Lightsaber Unleashed. The name change comes from the fact that the program is now an official Star Wars app and includes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lightsabers, characters and sounds.

There’s a few extra goodies in the latest update, aside from the name change and The Force Unleashed extras added. The layout of the program has been changed. Dueling music has also been added, and the screen will flash if your lightsaber lands a hit, so it should make fake lightsaber battles among friends a bit more interesting. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the price - it is still free.

Originally, PhoneSaber had been removed by TheMacBox after THQ Wireless lodged a complaint about the unofficial program. Now, THQ, LucasArts and TheMacBox have teamed up to make an official version. Thankfully, Lightsaber Unleashed‘s price didn’t change because of the transition.
