If creasing paper seems like a dull pastime, then you obviously haven’t been exposed to the wondrous world of papercraft.

These artists take colored paper or printed patterns, add a few well-placed folds and creases and turn them into 3D masterpieces.

Case in point is Matthew Hawkin’s Pac-Man papercraft sculpture.

As with anything these days, there are fans in abundance and many of them gather at Paperkraft.net to share designs, several of which involve classic and modern video game characters.

For example, an artist who goes by “Jouzo” created a 3-feet tall all paper version of Yuna from Final Fantasy X-2 that took 61 days and 627 parts to create.

You’ll also find Chelsea from Phantasy Star Portable 2, Pokemon a plenty (including a Riolu), Donkey Kong and Link and a Phantom from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

Many of these are offered as not only proof of their creative skills but also as free, downloadable patterns. (No Yuna pattern yet but Jouzo’s working on it).

Ah, the the sharing nature of the web. Gotta love it.
