Last month the Wii sold about 120,000 systems per week, whereas The PlayStation 3 sold only 43,600 systems and the Xbox 360 sold only 66,000. Even though this is a decrease in sales from what Nintendo (and all other companies) are use to selling, it still shows how well Nintendo is doing compared to the other Companies.
Four of the games that sold the best that month include Pokemon Platinum which was ranked No. 2 at nearly 805,000 units sold, Wii Fit at No. 3 with more than 541,000 sold, Wii Play at No. 8 with more than 281,000 sold and Mario Kart Wii at No. 9 with more than 278,000 sold.
Also the DSi so far outsold the DS when it first came out by almost 200,000 systems. It just shows you what adding a camera and some other things can really do for sales!
according to the NPD Group, if it weren’t for Nintendo products, the gaming industry would be down 14 percent in revenues this year. Which just shows you the impact Nintendo has made.
For those of you who never put stock into Nintendo, now is your chance. Nintendo has always done well in sale because they company keeps updating products and technology. Sure, being able to play online is fun but it’s much more fun to play online and play games with controls that are more like real life movements than thumb contortions. I can’t wait to see what they come up with five years from now to raise the bar.
Even though the whole gaming market is down due to the economy, for now, Nintendo can hold there head high as being best in sales. Who knows what the future months will show.
