Today in Paris at its software showcase, Ubidays, Ubisoft released new screenshots and information about the next iteration of the popular stealth action series.
Here is the description:
“With a new role as fugitive rather than special operative, Sam Fisher will drop his black suit and gadgets in favor of a more civilian appearance. After all, Sam Fisher creeping through the center of Washington D.C. in a black bodysuit carrying a multipurpose gun wouldn’t exactly blend in as a fugitive would need to.”
According to Gamespot and IGN reports, the game will feature new stealth techniques to go along with main character Sam Fisher’s new found fugitive status. Instead of hiding in the shadows waiting to pounce on unsuspecting terrorists, players will now have to blend into large crowds and find ways to distract enemies; such as blowing up park cars while running to a safe location.
This new type of gameplay is a welcome change for many fans of the series, as a large number of them have made their feelings clear to Ubisoft that the series was growing a bit stale. With this new information, it appears that the fans voices have been heard loud and clear.
Splinter Cell: Conviction has a tentative release date for Q4 2007 on the Xbox 360 and PC.
