Eidos looks like it wants its next major outing to be a standard platforming adventure that could appeal to all ages. The company has just announced that it is working on Mini Ninjas, a multiplatform adventure that will hopefully be completed by Fall 2009.
When I say multiplatform, I mean it. With the exception of the PS2 and PSP, Mini Ninjas is going to appear on all major gaming platforms. Perhaps it’s a divide and conquer mentality - if the game appears on the DS, PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, it’s bound to find an audience somewhere.
The general story and concept may sound a bit cliched, but that also may be part of its charm. Players step up and assist Hiro as he journeys to defeat the Evil Samurai Warlord and his evil Samurai minions. Along the way he’ll also help rescue and receive assistance from fellow Mini Ninjas. If all goes well, you can reach the Fortress of Doom and banish the Evil Samurai Warlord forever. Nothing we haven’t heard or seen before.
It sounds cute, but I’m not sure Mini Ninjas will win me over that easily. I’d have to take a closer look and see some more gameplay videos before I’m ready to walk in the shoes of a diminuative warrior.
