Nikopol Trilogy inspires PC game

Enki Bilal’s Nikopol Trilogy of graphic novels will be made into a point-and-click video game by White Birds Productions and Got Game Entertainment. Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals, will follow the source material closely, casting players as Nikopol as he searches for his father and tries to keep an Egyptian god from taking over Paris.
See, Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals is set in the fictional, 2023 city of Paris. A floating pyramid full of Egyptian gods floats overhead and rules over the people. Nikopol hears rumors that his father is still alive and could be used somehow in a hostile takeover by one of gods, and he decides to try and do something to save him.
For a point-and-click game, it looks pretty dark. That creature in the screen shot above looks like something from Silent Hill. I don’t think I’d want to encounter it in a game where I couldn’t beat it with an IV rack or lead pipe. A mouse click isn’t going to do anything against that thing. It’d probably think the clicking tickles.
This isn’t the first time that the Nikopol Trilogy has also inspired a movie, Immortal. The trilogy’s writing and art must be something, to be able to inspire such spin-offs. I’ll have to check out a volumn next time I’m at Borders. As for the game, it should be completely finished and in stores for $29.99 by August, 2008.
