Nexon and 7-Eleven team up for “Where You Play for Free” Slurpee campaign (update)

by Jenni Lada on Nov 11, 2008 at 01:20 PM

MapleStory Nexon 7-Eleven Where You Play for Free campaignOkay Nexon fans, head over to 7-Eleven during your lunch break or after work. Why? They’ve teamed up with the mini-mart chain to offer special Nexon game Slurpee cups and Nexon game DVDs during the “Where You Play for FREE” campaign. If you get a 22 oz Slurpee in a Nexon Slurpee cup, you’ll be able to get a virtual prize code, that you can redeem for perks or privileges in Combat Arms, Mabinogi, MapleStory or Sugar Rush. (Sorry Audition fans - no freebies for you.) The promotion lasts while supplies last.

The best virtual prize is has to be the spot in the closed Sugar Rush beta. (You also get three virtual 7-Eleven items for your characters if you choose that prize. The Combat Arms prize comes with a 7-Eleven hat and a supply case with a free weapon. MapleStory players can choose a 90 minute 7-Eleven double experience point card as their gift. Mabinogi users may get the cutest in-game items - 20 Slurpees for your avatar to enjoy.

I don’t drink slurpees. Normally I don’t. But getting in early on Sugar Rush and getting a Nexon game DVD with MapleStory and Mabinogi games on it may be too much to resist. I know, I already have the Mabinogi client, but what if something happened to my computer? I don’t want to spend another 2+ hours downloading the client again! I just received notification from a Nexon representative (5:52pm CST November 11, 2008) that Audition‘s client is included on the DVD, so this only sweetens the deal for me. After all, I imported Audition Portable when it was on sale after I saw it would take over three hours to download Nexon’s Audition. The game DVD with the installation files for Nexon’s games are, in my opinion, the highlight of this promotion.

It sounds like a solid promotion. The thing is, well, the timing is a bit off. We’re heading into November, temperatures are dropping and winter will be here before you know it. How many people are going to want an icy cold drink when its below 40 degrees out? Not many. Perhaps Nexon and 7-Eleven should have waited until Spring, or launched this promotion a month or two earlier.

(Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to reflect that Audition is included on the free game DVD that comes with a purchase of a 22 oz. Slurpee in a Nexon cup.)

Its a download disc with all the game clients on there, so you don’t have to spend 1-3 hours downloading the game.

It isn’t a special version of the games, it is just a disc with all the games on it. So of course it will take up the same amount of space as the client downloaded from the internet.
